VIJAYAWADA: SRR & CVR College of Vijayawada clinched the overall championship in the Acharya Nagarjuna University inter-collegiate archery championship held at IGMC stadium here on Thursday. KVR College (Nandigama) and Bhavanarayana Sanskrit College (Ponnur) finished second and third respectively. J. Rama Rao (ANU College) emerged men’s overall champion with 630 points out of 720, while M. Rishita (SRR & CVR) took the honours in the women segment by hauling 640 points out of 720. SAI’s NSTC selectionsSports Authority of India (SAI) is conducting a State-wide selection for the National Sports Talent Contest (NSTC) scheme at V.P. Siddhartha Public school in athletics for the year 2007-08 on September 18 and 19 from 8 a.m. Athletes in the age group of 12 to 15 years are eligible for participation. If selected, the trainees will get expert training by qualified coaches throughout the year. In addition, they will also receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 300, sports kit and exposure trips. Reitz India golfReitz India invitational golf championship will be held at the EME Golf Course on September 16. A record number of 120 entries have been already confirmed for the event, being held as part of its 10th anniversary celebrations. “Special prizes will be given away not just to the best golfer of the event but also for the longest drive, closest to the pin to promote the sport in a big way,” he said. Some of the big names who will take part include former DGP Swaranjit Sen, Hyderabad Ranji team coach Vivek Jaisimha, C. Suresh, Commandant, Artillery Centre (Golconda) and Ulrich Breder, chairman of Reitz India from Germany.
