To pay homage to freedom fighters Show to culminate in capital city KANNUR: The National Cadet Corps (NCC) of the Co-operative Arts and Science College at Madayi here will organise a stage show on the first Independence Struggle of 1857 to create an awareness on the freedom struggle and pay homage to the sacrifices of the freedom fighters. The final rehearsal of the show, ‘Great Mission 1857,’ was held at Madayippara on Saturday. The show is being staged on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the freedom struggle. NCC Officer of the college and programme co-ordinator Balachandran Keezhoth said the show, to be staged in the districts, would culminate in Thiruvananthapuram. It will portray the political, social, economical and intellectual contexts of 1850s that led to the struggle. The show, directed by amateur theatre director Santhosh, will have cadets M.V. Vijesh, C.K. Greeshma, Suja Sudhakaran, Akhila Krishnan, Lijesh M. and Reshma playing the roles of Mangal Pandey, Rani Lakshmi Bai of Jhansi, Bahadur Shah Zafar, Queen Victoria, Nana Saheb and Tantia Tope respectively. NCC 32 Battalion Commanding Officer Col. C. Peethambaran, A.V. Adiyodi and T.K. Narayanan Namboodiri are the patrons.
