Medical Education Minister Galla Aruna Kumari has announced that the government has plans to appoint managers in government hospitals. It would certainly help offer quality services to the patients. The superintendents, who are hitherto overburdened with the administrative work, would now be able to concentrate on patient care. The proposed set-up would help improve the sanitation and other facilities in the government hospitals. It would also help give a facelift and good look to the hospitals. BV Subrahmanya Sastry Bapatla Rein in mechanised boat operatorsUnable to withstand the stiff competition from mechanised boats, thousands of traditional fishermen are bidding adieu to fish hunting. The future of fishermen in 74 villages spread over 102 km in the coastal belt hangs in balance. Throwing rules and regulations to the wind, motorboat owners go on hunting fish, reducing the traditional fishermen to paupers. While hundreds of fishermen were reduced to farm workers, their wives are employed in tobacco trading centres in Prakasam district. It’s high time that the government took stern action against mechanised boats. Ivaturi Satyanarayana Ongole Render justiceInternational archer Mandava Rishita has made the country, Andhra Pradesh and herself proud by winning many medals at the national and international competitions. Unfortunately, she was denied a seat in MBBS under sports quota. She alleges that gross injustice has been done to her during verification of sports certificates by the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh. It is to be noted that various unqualified persons are getting seats under sports quota by submitting invalid certificates. The State Government should take a serious note of this and resolve the problem at the earliest. A. Ananda Khammam Bad roadsThe condition of the road between Repalle and Bapatla is worse. I happened to travel between Repalle and Bapatla via Nagaram, Maninavaripalem, Khajipalem and Yazali recently by taxi. I was afraid that my car might not reach Bapatla on scheduled time. I could not sit in the taxi comfortably because of the bad road. Hence, I request the MLAs and MPs concerned to take suitable steps to ensure that the road was repaired properly. B.
