Probe sought into jumbo running amok

Guruvayur: The Kerala Elephant Lovers’ Association has demanded a high-level inquiry to find out why an elephant ran amok at the Guruvayur Sreekrishna Temple on Saturday. The elephant, named Seshadri, became violent while being featured in the Seeveli ceremony in the temple around 7.30 a.m. It destroyed the iron railing in front of a counter, tube lights and a box. Following the incident, devotees were not allowed into the temple for an hour. Mahouts brought the elephant into control by 8.30 a.m. — Staff Reporter
