PERAMBALUR: The Field Publicity Office, Tiruchi, conducted an awareness programme on ‘Iodine deficiency disorder control for women’ at Arunagiri Mangalam in Alathur Block, near here, recently.
About 100 women from self-help groups took part. Child Development Programme Officer, Alathur, C. Banumathi and Field Publicity Officer, Tiruchi, M. Therasnathan were the resource persons. President of the panchayat-level federation K. Vasantha and director of Akila Bharathi, an NGO, T. Ranganathan offered felicitations. A similar programme was conducted at Melamathur, Alathur Block, with panchayat president Kalaiselvi Jothivelu presiding over the function. Vice-president K. Chandra, Ms. Banumathi, Mr. Therasnathan and Mr. Ranganathan spoke.
