Malpractices alleged in Indiramma

Staff Reporter

‘Registrations at middlemen’s behest’

SANGAREDDY: Member of the Legislative Council and Communist Party of India (M) state secretariat member Cherupalli Seetharamulu alleged that middlemen were dictating terms in the registration of names under the Indiramma housing programme.

Addressing the poor in the Narayanreddy colony here on Sunday Seetharamulu said that the names suggested by middlemen were being enrolled under the scheme in the name survey. He launched a padayatra from Narayanreddy colony commemorating the completion of 125 days of Bhu Poratam in Medak district.

The MLC visited slums in Marxist Nagar and inquired about the homeless in that area. The poor informed the MLC that names of only those who have contact with the ruling party were being entered in the list. Many slum dwellers told the CPI (M) leaders that they have been living in the makeshift tents since 15 years and no one gave them land for the construction of a permanent structure. Seetharamulu said that the Government has turned into a realtor and decided to earn Rs. 8,500 crore by selling away land which should have been distributed among the poor. The Padayatra passed through Sanjeevnagar, Balajinagar, Indira colony, Magdoomnagar. Divisional secretary B.Mallesh also participated.
