Andhra Pradesh
As expected, Hyderabad experienced twin blasts killing more than 40 people. As usual, from Central to State leaders, all have voiced stereotyped reactions i.e., we will crush them with an iron fist, the culprits will be booked in two days, don’t spread/believe rumours etc. But the sufferers of the crime cannot be consoled and the lost lives cannot be got back. For all this I blame the Government in Andhra Pradesh which is incompetent and has proved to be useless in all fields. Hence I request the Central Government to impose President’s rule in the next 20 months before the elections, so that people can live in peace. S.L.N. Murthy, Srinagar Colony Synchronize MMTS timingsOn September 15, I reached Begumpet from Mumbai by Hussainsagar Express at 1200 hours. Since I had to go to Secunderabad, on seeing the MMTS timings, I got a ticket for the 1225 hrs MMTS train at Begumpet towards Secunderabad. But to my dismay, the said train reached Begumpet only at 1315 hrs. Meanwhile, there were three MMTS trains towards Hyderabad (Nampally) at Begumpet within that time. Most of the passengers who had reached Begumpet by Hussainsagar Express had to wait for more than an hour for their MMTS train twoards Secunderabad. It would be better if the railway authorities work towards synchronising the MMTS train timings so that they provide link for the passengers who alight/board long distance trains at stations like Begumpet, Secunderabad, Nampally and Kacheguda. More than other modes of transport, if MMTS trains are operated with suitable timings, they may be preferred by people as connecting trains for long distance trains at various railway stations. Ravi S., Walker Town World-class products needed from IndiaThe article by Pallavi Aiyar ‘Sino Indian trade: growing concern’ (The Hindu, August 28) offered fascinating insight into India-China trade and was incisive. China and India are among the fastest growing economies in the world today. If these two can establish mutually supportive and sustainable trade relations, it will open a new chapter in contemporary world trade increasingly marked by protectionist measures from erstwhile colonialists. It should not be difficult for India and China to identify areas of trade synergy. However, for Indian goods to predominate our exports, Indian industry should start producing world-class products for both local as well as world market, something that the Chinese industry has successfully accomplished. In any product segment, a good position in domestic market is prerequisite to venture into the world market. Ganesan S., DD Colony
