Spirit seized

KOLLAM: The Ochira police seized 735 litres of spirit from a van early on Monday morning. The police said the seizure was made during a night patrol. On seeing the police party, the van took a diversion. The police chased the van for some time and intercepted it on the Kollam-Alappuzha border, near Thazhava. The driver and another person in the van escaped. The spirit was kept in 21 cans of 35 litres capacity each. Meanwhile at Pattazhy, the Excise Department made two separate spirit seizures. In the first seizure, 350 packets of spirit were recovered. Each packet contained 100 ml of spirit. — Staff Reporter
