TDP leader demands YSR’s resignation

Staff Reporter

KADAPA: Telugu Desam Party MLC and district observer Palle Raghunatha Reddy on Monday demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy alleging failure of his Government in all fronts.

Dr. Rajasekhara Reddy showered promises during his padayatra before last elections, but ignored their implementation after gaining power, Mr. Reddy alleged in a press conference at Proddatur. YSR Government was claiming to be pro-farmer but supplying power in a haphazard manner, he alleged and claimed that previous TDP Government ensured nine-hour power supply to ryots.

As many as 4,285 farmers committed suicide in YSR rule, Mr. Raghunatha Reddy said. Congressmen who did not have a cent of land were chosen as model farmers, he alleged.

Benami allotments

Ruling party leaders and functionaries were usurping crore of rupees in Indiramma scheme and getting houses sanctioned in benami names at the cost of the poor, he alleged.

District TDP president S. Raghurami Reddy charged the YSR Government with foisting cases against Opposition leaders and activists and sending them to jail, as done by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi during the emergency. TDP leaders M. Linga Reddy, M. Lakshmiprasanna, Kamisetty Babu, Koneti Sunanda, Noorjehan, S. Gurivi Reddy and B. Purushotham Reddy participated.
