SALEM: The State Highways department on Sunday commenced repairing a portion of Yercaud Ghat Road which got damaged during the recent rain. The parapet and the road near the third hairpin bend were damaged three days ago. As a result, heavy vehicle traffic remained affected. Only two-wheelers and light vehicles were allowed. The heavy vehicles were diverted through Ayodhyapattinam-Kuppanur road.

A team of officials which inspected the road on Sunday said that a rock near the damaged portion would be removed to facilitate heavy vehicle traffic.

Work completion

This would be completed within a week time. The department has asked the Government to allot Rs. 20 lakh to restore the damaged road, they added.
