KOLLAM: A police constable, Manoj Ibrahim, 32, was fatally knocked down by a private bus at Chinnakada on Monday morning. Manoj, attached to the Kollam Armed Reserve Camp, was on work arrangement as a driver with the Kollam traffic police station. The accident occurred when he was riding his bike to the traffic station for joining duty. Eyewitnesses said Manoj was knocked down while the private bus was overtaking another bus. The bus employees fled the scene. Manoj was taken to the District Hospital, but was declared dead-on-arrival. His body was handed over to relatives after an autopsy. The body was kept at the traffic police station for colleagues and others to pay their last respects. The funeral was held in the evening. Manoj is survived by his wife, Anisa.
