Making waves: RJ Shekhar (right) of Big 92.7 FM on the unique record-breaking on-air marathon on Monday. HYDERABAD: Setting new records through marathon singing or dancing is passe. Now is the turn of marathon Radio Jockeying. Big 92.7 FM, the radio channel known for its innovative publicity schemes, launched a marathon ‘RJing’ session by its Jockey Sekhar. Nationwide reachThe RJing, launched at 2 p.m. on Monday, will have completed 92 hours and 7 minutes by the time it reaches the finish-line. In effect, it will conclude on September 20 at 10.07 a.m. Touted by the channel as an “on-air feat never attempted before in Hyderabad”, the ‘VJing’ marathon will be available for listeners on 92.7 frequency nation-wide. Actor Navadeep of “Chandamama” fame attended the launch and interacted with the callers. His unexplored flair for ‘RJing’ was evident with the ease with which he handled the calls. Inspired by ChiruRJ Sekhar, sharing a lighter moment with the media, said that the role played by actor Chiranjeevi in the movie ‘Maga Maharaju’ was his inspiration for the adventure. The Jockey, reportedly with the highest recall rate among the channel’s listeners, will be monitored by a physician through his task. Apart from food with less oil and fluids, the prescribed menu for him also includes ‘Power Horse’, the energy drink sponsoring the attempt. Public will be mobilised for the event by the other jockeys of the channel who will travel to different parts of the city to check his progress. He will also be cheered by sizeable number of celebrities, the organisers said.
