Thiruvananthapuram: Congress party workers demanding the resignation of Health Minister P. K. Sreemathy conducted mock public trials ‘indicting’ her of ‘involvement’ in the Kiliroor sex-racket cover up case, on Monday.

Activists of the Kerala Pradesh Mahila Congress burned the Minister in effigy near the Legislative Assembly complex. During the mock-trial, they accused the Minister of threatening the victim, a teenage mother, at a hospital in Kottayam district. The victim died at the hospital later.

Youth Congress workers conducted a similar mock public trial against the Minister in front of the Palayam Martyr’s Column. The demonstrations caused traffic to move at snail pace along the arterial M. G. Road for over an hour in the morning.
