Residents resort to road roko

TIRUCHI: Traffic on the Tiruchi – Pudukottai national highway was hit for about 30 minutes after a group of people of Gundur Mariamman temple street resorted to a road roko at Gundur here on Monday to register their protest over the non-supply of drinking water to their area.

Police sources here said the residents wanted the authorities concerned to take immediate steps to repair the water pipeline that had got damaged and ensure water supply to their area.

On information, senior police and revenue officials pacified the residents, who later gave up the stir.
