Adithyan props up City-IV

CHENNAI: Skipper and opening batsman M. Adithyan’s 47 (98b, 5x4) enabled City-IV end day one at 112 for seven in reply to City-III’s 125 in the two-day TNCA round robin under-13 cricket tournament here on Monday.

The scores: City-II 139 in 68.3 overs (Ganesh Karthik 33, M. Karthick 27, Ragav Viswanath three for 26) vs City-I 61 for five in 30 overs.

City-III 125 in 49.3 overs (R. Mithun 31, Kaushik U Ram three for 17) vs City-IV 112 for seven in 40 overs (M. Adithyan 47).

Double for MOP

MOP Vaishnav College triumphed in table tennis and badminton in the Madras University inter-divisional tournament here on Sunday.

The results (final): Table tennis: MOP bt Stella Maris 3-0 (A.V. Nivedhitha bt N. Satyabama 16-14,14-12, 12-10; U.V. Agni bt J. Swarna 11-6, 11-6, 14-12; K. Nishanthi bt M. Steffina 9-11, 11-9, 11-9, 11-4).

Badminton: MOP bt Ethiraj 2-1 (Payal lost to Suma 18-21, 17-21; Payal & Kavya bt Suma & Indhumathi 21-10, 21-11; Kavya bt Indhumathi 21-7, 21-4).

Dinesh shines

City I was dismissed for 185 by Districts I on the first day of an under-17 TNCA round robin match played here at the SRMC ground. S. Dinesh top-scored with 75, while off-spinner V. Naresh Babu took four for 69.

City III bowled Districts II out for 111 in another encounter at MRF-Pachaiyappa’s.

The scores: City I 185 in 81.3 overs (S. Dinesh 75, V. Naresh Babu four for 69) v Districts I 28 for one in nine overs.

Districts II 111 in 61.2 overs (M.S. Sarath Kumar three for 12) v City III 58 for two in 28 overs.

Earlier score: Districts I 101 in 40.4 overs (R. Saravana Kumar three for 16) lost to City II 104 for five in 34.2 overs (K.G. Sai Srinath 41).

Citizen’s run

Chennai: For the second year in succession, Round Table India-Area 2, has joined hands with Citizen’s Run Trust to conduct the ‘10th Citizen’s Run’ on September 30 at 4 p.m.

The run will start at the Lady Willington College ground on Kamarajar Salai, go around the war memorial and end at Lady Willington College ground.

The recipients of last year’s run will be presented cheques before the run is flagged off. A total of Rs. 11 lakhs will be distributed to local NGOs.
