This Day That Age
Dr. H.J. Bhabha, Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, told the New York Times in an interview that production of a million K.W. of nuclear fuelled energy between 1962 and 1965 was a definitely feasible target for India. Dr. Bhabha participated in a conference on atomic energy at the Colombia University, which was attended by 225 leading scientists. In the interview, Dr. Bhabha said India was a natural area for atomic power as much of the nation’s coal had to be transported from a distance of 750 to 1,500 miles to industrial centres. Atomic power plants would do much to solve this problem.
