ADILABAD: A memorandum of agreement between the district samakhya and the District Rural Development Agency-Indira Kranti Patham (DRDA-IKP) was signed on Tuesday under which the former will provide training support to shelf help groups in urban areas.
The DRDA-IKP will be the agency to strengthen the existing urban SHGs in the seven municipalities in the district as well form new ones.
DRDA-IKP Project Director G. Gopi who has also been designated as District Project Officer of Mission for elimination of poverty in municipal areas (MEPMA) and Somdevbai, president of the district samakhya signed on the memorandum of agreement.
Finer points
Explaining the finer points of the agreement Mr. Gopi said support from existing community resource persons (CRP) within the rural SHGs or samakhyas will be taken for training of urban members.
The members will be trained in all aspects related to SHGs like organising meetings, book keeping, preparation of micro credit plans etc. A sum of Rs. 10 lakhs will be spent on such training, he added.
