IT awards presented

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: When V.R.Vishnu, a student of the Government Higher Secondary School, Kaniyambatta, Wayanad, embarked on a survey to assess the household consumption of electricity as part of a school project, he had little idea that it would bring him recognition from the Government.

On Monday, the proud student received the State-level award for the best IT project from Minister for Education M.A. Baby.

The award comprised a cash prize of Rs.10,000, a statuette and a citation.

The Minister distributed the IT@School project awards for the year 2005-’06 at a function held at the Secretariat Durbar hall.

While the Irinjalakuda educational district got the award for the best IT initiative, the government Higher Secondary School, Pookottumpadeam at Wandoor in Malappuram and Mar Basil HSS, Kothamangalam, won the State-level award for the best computer laboratory.

The district-level awards for the best IT project went to Pintu Francis, St.Anne’s HS, Kottapuram, Thrissur, Abdul Nizam Salim, GVHSS, Nedumkandom, Idukki, Visakh P.Varma, Emmanuel HSS, Kothanallur, Kottayam, Beena A.S, Vimalahridaya HSS for girls, Pattathanam, Kollam, Arjun Manohar, Mar Basil HSS, Kothamangalam, Ernakulam, Hasna Hameed Ahammed, KPES HS, Kayakudi, Kozhikode, Hari.E, THS, Angadippuram, Malappuram, and Vishnu V.R, GHSS, Kaniyambetta, Wayanad.

The district-level awards for the best computer laboratory were presented to GVHSS, Agali, Palakkad, GNBHS, Kodakara, Thrissur, GVHSS for Girls, Kasargode, GHSS, Kaniyambetta, Wayanad, GHSS for Girls, Cotton Hill, Thiruvananthapuram, GTHSS, Poomala, Idukki, GVHSS, Ettumanoor, Kottayam, GHSS and VHSS, Karunagapally, Kollam, GVHSS, Meppayyur, Kozhikode and GHSS, Pookottumpadam, Malappuram.
