Woman assaulted, robbed of jewellery Crime notes

BANGALORE: Three men assaulted a woman, pinned her to the ground and robbed her of her gold ornaments estimated at Rs. 1 lakh in the Commercial Street Police Station limits on Sunday.

The police said the robbery took place around 9.30 p.m. on Gangadhar Chetty Road when Joshua Shantha Kumari, a resident of Ramaswamypalya in Banaswadi, was on her way to board a bus to reach her house.

The three grabbed Ms. Kumari’s neck and pushed her to the ground before snatching her gold necklace and a chain. The Commercial Street Police have registered a case.

Chain snatched

In another incident, two men who were on a motorcycle snatched a gold chain valued at Rs. 60,000 from an elderly woman in Kamakshipalya Police Station limits in the early hours of Monday.

The police said that around 6 a.m. the two snatched the chain from Sarojamma (60), a resident of KHB Colony on Magadi Road, while she was walking to a milk booth near her house. The Kamakshipalya Police have registered a case.

Two killed

Two pedestrians were killed in as many road accidents in the city on Monday. Pachappa (40), a gang man with Bruhat Bangalore Mahangara Palike, was killed after a van knocked him down near National Public School Junction in the Vijayanagar Traffic Police Station limits.

The police said the incident took place around 6.30 a.m. while Pachappa, a resident of Kaveripura in Kamakshipalya, was walking home after dropping his daughter off for her tuition class. In the other incident, Kashi (41), a florist, was killed after a van hit him near Mysore Road flyover in the City Market Traffic Police Station limits around 6 a.m. The police said Kashi was a resident of Hosaguddadahalli.

Suicide

Bindu (26), a housewife, hanged herself to death with a duppatta from a window grill at her house in Muthyalanagar in the Jalahalli Police Station limits on Sunday.

The police said that she was suffering from acute asthma.

She was the wife of Anil, owner of a mobile phone shop.

In another incident, Saravana Kumar (24), who was in the habit of drinking, was rescued by his father after he hanged himself from a ceiling fan at his house in Kammagondanahalli in the Gangammanagudi Police Station limits on Saturday.

Saravana died the same night after he consumed liquor at a wine store and returned home, the police said.

Run over

A woman aged around 30 was run over by a train on Monday.

The body of the woman was found near Kaggadasapura on the Bangalore-Salem rail track, the police said.

The said she could have committed suicide.
