Nilambur-Shoranur special train to run till March 19

Staff Reporter

MALAPPURAM: The Onam special passenger train running between Nilambur and Shoranur will continue for six more months. The railways have decided to extend the passenger (train No. 673/674) till March 19.

The decision came following persistent demands from the Nilambur-Mysore Railway Action Council and political leaders such as P.V. Abdul Wahab, MP; N.N. Krishnadas, MP; and Law Minister M. Vijayakumar, who is in charge of railways.

The Onam special passenger train began service on August 20 and was to run till September 19. The Nilambur-Mysore Railway Action Council, which seeks permanency for the temporary service, has welcomed the decision.

“This will be a boon to the passengers who depend on the Nilambur-Shoranur rail link,” said Dr. Biju, vice-president of the action council.
