‘Defer compulsory audit of dealers’

BANGALORE: The Karnataka State Tax Advocates’ Association has urged the Government to defer compulsory audit of dealers whose turnover exceeds Rs. 40 lakh a year under the Karnataka Value Added Tax Act. In a memorandum submitted to the Government, association president S.K. Nahar said the compulsory audit being enforced under Section 31 (4) of the Act was contrary to provisions under Section 38 (1) of the same Act. Also, such an audit was not within the framework of the Act.
