ISRO not satisfied with land at Ivercode

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has shown disinterest in the land offered by the government for the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology at Ivercode on the Ponmudi hills.

Official sources said that the State government was willing to provide 74 acres of excess land for free. However, the ISRO officials had not evinced interest in getting the land.

The ISRO team from Bangalore, which arrived here on Tuesday, did not visit the site. ISRO sources said that the purpose of the visit of the team was mainly to examine the academic facilities. It consisted of representatives from the University Grants Commission and the All Indian Council of Technical Education.
