KOLKATA: Union Minister and Lok Jan Shakti Party president Ram Vilas Paswan said here on Tuesday that his party supported the nuclear deal with the United States and looked forward to the government completing its full term.
Asked by newspersons about the possible fall-out if the Left parties, withdrew their support to the government, he said: “If they do so will they support the National Democratic Alliance? Coalition politics has come to stay.”
“Our party wants the government to continue. But if a no-confidence motion is moved against it in Parliament, a confidence motion should also be placed simultaneously.”
On the likelihood of early elections, he said: “Ask the Left parties. The Communist Party of India [Marxist] appears to be divided [on the issue].”
On the controversy over the Sethu Samudram project, he said, “the matter is now in the court. Ramar Sethu is a question of faith.”
The opposition to the project by the Bharatiya Janata Party had “political” designs, he alleged.
“They [the BJP] had also said a Ram temple will be built in Ayodhya but did not do so when they were in power”, he pointed out.
