NEW DELHI: Two members of Yamuna Satyagraha created a flutter in the Delhi Assembly on Tuesday when they raised the issue of protection of the river from the Visitors’ Gallery. Both, Kapil Mishra and Sunil Prabhakar, were immediately taken away by the marshals and detained till the conclusion of the day’s proceedings of the House.
Another member of the group, Diwan Singh, later said the two had come to the Assembly to invite the members to visit the site on the river banks where the group has been protesting for the past 50 days. “They are both very emotionally attached to the issue and this is what prompted them to raise the issue from the gallery,” he said. While the two protesters charged that “the Yamuna was being sold and looted in the name of Commonwealth Games Village”, the BJP members simultaneously joined them in protesting against the construction on the river banks.
