Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha activists stage rasta roko

Staff Reporter

VISAKHAPATNAM: Activists of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Viswa Hindu Parishad (VHP) staged a rasta roko at busy Asilametta junction here on Tuesday evening and burnt an effigy of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi for his alleged ‘outbursts’ against Rama Sethu and Lord Rama.

Addressing the gathering, BJYM state general secretary PVN Madhav deplored Karunanidhi’s statements and described it as an insult to 80 crore Hindus of the country. He demanded an apology from Karunanidhi and also from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi on the issue.

VHP leader D.A. Satyanarayana spoke.

Pamphlets distributed

The party activists distributed pamphlets seeking protection of Hindu dharma and Rama Sethu (bridge).

The bridge is believed to have been in use till the 14th Century AD but got submerged under the sea in course of time.

Recent pictures released by the National Aeronautical Space Association (NASA) have indicated the presence of a three km. wide and 30 km. long structure under the water, according to the pamphlets.

The UPA Government is planning to demolish the bridge as it is forcing ships going from the east to west coast of India and vice versa to take a circuitous around Sri Lanka.
