ADILABAD: Awareness on conservation and recharging of ground water was key to sustainable survival, according to G.D. Ojha, Regional Director, Central Ground Water Development Board, Hyderabad.
He said rainwater harvesting was one of the best methods available for recharge of ground water.
Inaugurating a two-day training programme for officials in the district on rainwater harvesting and artificial recharge on Tuesday, the Regional Director said awareness on the subject should percolate to the grassroots level.
K. Manohar Reddy, Deputy Director groundwater, Adilabad said while about 80,000 hectares was irrigated by projects, 86,000 hectares was irrigated by groundwater sources in the district.
