Bomb hoax at school, college

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Two educational institutions in the city on Tuesday suspended classes following anonymous telephone calls that bombs have been planted at the two places and they would explode in an hour. The police, along with personnel from Bomb Detection Squad and sniffer dog squad, searched the premises of the Seshadripuram Junior College and the Jawaharlal Nehru School in Chamarajpet. No explosives were found. Around 8.45 a.m. a person telephoned Seshadripuram Junior College and told the attender Babu, who received the call, that a bomb has been planted at the college. Ten minutes later, another attender, Sheela, too received a similar call.

In the other incident, the principal of Jawaharlal Nehru School in Azadnagar in Chamarajpet received an anonymous call around 8.50 a.m. that a bomb has been planted at the school and it would go off in an hour, the police said.

On the basis of the number displayed on the caller identification device, the call was traced to a telephone booth near T.R. Mills in Chamarajpet. The Seshadripuram and Chamarajpet police have registered separate cases.
