Plea to streamline sand quarrying

KANCHEEPURAM: The Federation of Tamil Nadu Sand Lorry Owners Association has urged the district administration to streamline the sand quarrying process and open sufficient number of quarries in order to fill the demand-supply gap.

Themembers of the association staged a demonstration on the Palar riverbed here on Monday.

They demanded that ‘defects’ in sand quarrying operation should be rectified.

They also said that additional quarries should be opened to help meet the demand-supply gap.
