Compensation sought

PATHANAMTHITTA: Kerala Electricity Workers Federation (KEWF) general secretary M. Sukumara Pillai has alleged criminal negligence by the Kerala State Electricity Board in ensuring safety of employees. In a statement here on Tuesday, Mr. Pillai demanded immediate sanction of a special compensation of Rs. 10 lakh each to the bereaved families of the staff killed in the Idukki accident.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Government has issued final notification extending the provisions of the ESI scheme to employees of private hospitals and institutions. Employees of hospitals, nursing homes, diagnostic centres and institutions including pathological laboratories under the private sector, corporate managements, trusts and charitable institutions will come under the scheme from September 6, 2007. Such hospitals/institutions in Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha, Kollam and Pathanamthitta districts and Vaikkom taluk in Kottayam district are to submit ‘Form 01’ duly filled to the Divisional Office, ESI Corporation, Kollam-21 immediately for registration under the ESI scheme. The institutions in other districts/areas (except Wayanad) are to submit the form to the Regional Office, ESI Corporation, Thrissur-20.
