Handloom exhibition spins magic

HYDERABAD: It is yet another instance of the success of the profit-driven private initiative where the obligatory government efforts have failed miserably.

“Weaves, the cotton and silk spectrum”, a handloom exhibition at Kamma Sangham in Ameerpet showcasing handlooms from across the country speaks eloquently about what the official machinery could have done to improve the conditions of the weaver communities.

Their success, the organisers say, lies in the strategy of bringing together a variety of products from across the country and providing good facilities in terms of marketing and publicity. “We conducted similar exhibitions at Kochi and Nagpur and plan a silimar one in Bhubaneshwar,” said Madhavi Naidu, Director (Marketing) of Revathi Creative Communications(P) Limited the organisers. The expo will be on from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. till September 23.
