Liquor seized, one held

VILLUPURAM: The police arrested one person and impounded a vehicle on the charges of unauthorisedly transporting liquor from Puducherry to Chennai on Wednesday.

The car carrying 54 boxes of rum (each box contains 48 bottles of 180 ml capacity) was intercepted at Pappanchavadi. While A.Senthamarai Kannan (24) of Kuyavarpalayam was arrested, three others escaped. — Special Correspondent
