Krishnagiri: Government will provide scholarships to children of ex-servicemen and their widows for the year 2007-08 to pursue their higher studies.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Collector Santhosh Babu said scholarships would be provided under the Prime Minister’s Merit Scholarship Scheme to all eligible candidates doing their Engineering, Medicine, Dental, Veterinary Science, M.B.A. and M.C.A courses.
The eligible candidates should have obtained more than 60 per cent of marks in their plus two examinations.
For renewal of scholarship the candidates should secure more than 50 per cent of marks in their final examinations every year. Scholarship would be provided from 2 to 5 years.
A sum of Rs.1, 250 per month would be provided as scholarship for Boys and Rs.1, 500 per month for Girls.
The candidates should apply in the prescribed format attached with copies of mark certificates from the colleges concerned for renewal of their scholarship. The applications can be downloaded from the website www.dgrindia.com.
The applications filled with details should be attached with a Demand Draft of Rs.30 payable in New Delhi and drawn in favour of the Secretary Kendriya Sainik Board, West Block IV, V, R.K. Puram, New Delhi 110 066. The last date for receipt of applications is October 31, 2007. Further details can be obtained from the office of the Assistant Director, Ex-Servicemen in Krishnagiri.
