Allahabad: The Allahabad High Court on Wednesday asked the Uttar Pradesh Government not to fill up, until further orders, the posts that have been rendered vacant upon the dismissal of over 6,500 police constables a week ago. Hearing writ petitions filed by one of the dismissed constables Sonu Rathi, and others, Justice Rakesh Tiwari, however, declined to stay their dismissal, and asked the State Government to file its counter-affidavit on the issue by the next date of hearing on October 10. Altogether 6,504 constables were sacked by the Mayawati Government on September 11 following alleged bungling detected by an inquiry committee.
