Chandigarh: The Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC) is raising the power tariff by an average of 8.4 per cent across the board. “The increase in tariff rates for domestic supply has been proposed at 8.4 per cent, for agriculture sector 12 per cent and for all other categories seven per cent,” PSERC Chairman Jai Singh Gill told reporters here on Wednesday. “The tariff order and the higher rates will be applicable from September 1, 2007,” he said. For the domestic consumers, the tariff has been hiked from 221 paise per kilowatt hour to 240 paise while for agricultural pump sets, the hike has been from 214 paise per kilowatt hour in a month to 240 paise, he said.
