Highlighting the importance of science SCHOOL NOTES



Showcasing skills: The students displaying their exhibits at the science exhibition held in Premier High School recently.

BANGALORE: As part of its silver jubilee celebrations, Premier High School, Srirampuram, held a science exhibition, “Enigmatic Energy” on its premises recently. The daylong exhibition was inaugurated by K. Venkatesh, head of the Department of Physics at M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology.

Students from the pre-primary to tenth standard explained to the visitors, the various forms of energy; how it is generated and the importance of conserving it. The exhibits prepared by the students included a model of a nuclear reactor, a housing colony with solar energy, and a model of Krishnaraja Sagar dam in Mysore. The students demonstrated how energy is generated using solar, water, wind and other sources.

‘Reality of Science’

A programme “Reality of Science” was held at Auden School, Banashankari, recently. Vijay Sarathy of General Electric held the students spellbound on electricity, atoms, waves and different states of matter.

The students posed many questions to him.

First prize

Students of SJES English Medium High School, Medahalli, won the first prize in “Punyakoti”, a cultural programme held on Independence Day at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Krishnarajapuram. A. Krishnappa, MLA, presented a prize of Rs. 1,000 to the team leader M. Jayasree.

Award

Oxford English High School, Nagarbhavi, received an award for consistently securing 100 per cent pass results in the SSLC examinations. At a programme held recently at Shikshakara Sadana, school principal H. N. Usha received the award from Minister for Education Basavaraj Horatti.
