What they say

Natarajan Gulzar

Natarajan Gulzar, Municipal Commissioner:

“Revision of rental values pertains to only 15 per cent of the total number of assessments in the city.

Of the 1.52 lakh assessments, only 23,163 are non-residential properties, including some mixed properties.

The present exercise will not affect the remaining 1.29 lakh residential properties. The contribution of non-residential properties to property tax is only 40 percent. Hence, the impact of the revision will mainly be on commercial areas.

Even among non-residential properties, 90 per cent of the tax comes from only three kinds of usages _ shops, commercial and public. Remaining small usages like industrial, cinema theatres and others have less contribution towards property tax and they will be less affected.”
