The city’s M.V.J. College of Engineering has become the only institution in the State to offer Aeronautical Engineering as undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The first batch of the undergraduate course was launched recently by Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (HAL) general manager, RWRDC, K. Balakrishna. The two programmes are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and are affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU). The two-year full-time postgraduate degree programme in Aeronautical Engineering has a syllabus formulated by a team of specialists drawn from various leading aeronautical industries and research and development organisations. Three batches of the M. Tech course have already completed all the academic requirements. The fourth batch is undergoing industrial training while the fifth batch is now busy with their course work. Taru SamskritiThe city-based Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College is all set for “Samanvaya,” its all-India commerce meet, a platform for young minds to portray their professional talents. The meet is part of the college’s “Taru Samskriti” programme, a five-day countrywide inter-collegiate fest that combines art and culture, talent and entertainment. Events lined up for the meet include “Business Quiz,” a five-round contest with the theme “India Reflects;” “Personality,” a competition spread over three rounds designed to test the contestants’ management skills, response to crisis and marketing skills; “Ad-Venture,” a contest about creating ads on print, video and radio; “Venture Capital,” an event based on managing business proposals; “Big Fight,” where the participants debate on common topics and “Stimuli,” an on-the-spot event where clueless crisis situations are given to the participants to handle. CII summitThe Confederation of Indian Industry-Institute of Quality has organised a “National Summit on Quality Education” at Bangalore on September 28 and 29, with the theme “Building Quality India: Role of Educational Institutions”. The Hindu is the media partner for the event. RASHEED KAPPAN
