Owners to demolish five buildings at Puttenahalli
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: Five building owners at Puttenahalli have volunteered to demolish their structures themselves, official sources at the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) said on Wednesday. Four of them are independent houses while one is a three-storied building.
They are located on the “rajakaluve”, sources said.
After Tuesday’s blitzkrieg demolition drive that evoked strong protests from residents, the BBMP did not undertake any demolitions on Wednesday. The palike has been on a drive to clear encroachments on storm water drains in the city, held as a primary reason for water stagnation and flooding during rains. About 17 buildings have been demolished at Puttenahalli in the past few days.
Many houses in J.P. Nagar VI phase, more so those from Abhya Reddy Layout and Annaiah Reddy Layout were flooded.
“There has been a marginal decrease in the level of water in the area,” said a BBMP personnel at the control room.
