Legislature library to be modernised soon

BANGALORE: Legislative Council Chairman B.K. Chandrashekhar on Wednesday said the process to modernise the Legislature library would be initiated soon while immediate steps would be taken to fully digitise the library.

Presiding over the Legislature Library Committee here, Prof. Chandrashekhar said the V.G. Talwar Committee appointed in 2005 to recommend steps to be taken for modernising the library has given its report. The recommendations included installation of necessary hardware and software for digitising the library and appointment of trained staff; provision for more space within the library for the benefit of members; classification of books by decimal system; construction of a website for the library and linking it to Legislature website and removal of redundant books from the library to offer more space. Prof. Chandrashekhar said immediate steps would be taken to implement the recommendations.
