NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday issued notices to the Union Government, the Delhi Government, the National Commission for Women and Delhi’s Police Commissioner on a petition by a law student here seeking directions to the respondents to take measures to take care of mentally ill women living on footpaths in the city.
A Division Bench of the Court comprising Justice M.K. Sharma and Justice Sanjiv Khanna directed the respondents to file their replies to the petition by December 6.
The Bench issued the notices after expressing dissatisfaction over a status report filed the Delhi Government on the state of infrastructure in the city to take care of these women.
The Court last week had asked the State Government to file a status report in response to the petition.
