MADURAI: Three students studying in two different colleges were allegedly beaten up by a gang of four at K. Pudur here on Tuesday.
Police said J. Marivelrajan (23), T. Pradeen (19) and B. Anandan (23) were roughed up in a teashop. Students of the Madurai Law College staged a road roko on the busy Melur Road demanding the arrest of suspects.
A previous enmity between the two groups was said to be the cause of the attack. Two persons, R. Sabarish (28) of Kannanendhal and N. Palanivel (45) of Sellur were arrested in connection with the case, police added.
Idols stolen
Two panchaloha idols were reportedly stolen from a private temple here on Monday.
According to police sources, the ‘Rukmani’ and ‘Alwar’ idols were found missing from the Navaneetha Kannan Temple on the East Marret Street. The Vilakkuthoon police are investigating.
