This Day That Age
“Mr. Kamaraj represents the common man in the State and he has infused confidence in the masses which is so essential for the success of democracy,” said the Congress President, Mr. U.N. Dhebar, while unveiling a bust of the Chief Minister at the Corporation Council Hall, Ripon Buildings, Madras, on September 19. He said India of 1957 was something new to show to the people who were doubting about 20 years back the capacity of the country to produce men and women to carry on the burden of freedom. In Kamaraj, they had a man coming from the common people not endowed with great educational attainments yet showing capacity to carry on that burden.
