This Day That Age
The US, backed by Britain and seven other countries, on September 19 defeated an Indian move to have the UN Assembly consider the question of admitting China to the world organisation. The 16-member Steering Committee voted to recommend to the Assembly not to consider any proposal to exclude Nationalist China or to seek representation for the Communist regime.
