Temple town on its way to becoming pilgrim-friendly

BHUBANESWAR: As part of its drive to make Puri friendlier for the pilgrims and tourists, the Puri temple administration in association with the local civic body and the Puri police has geared up to provide a number of improved amenities to the visitors.

To tide over the prolonged traffic congestion that the Grand Road used to encounter, a parking place for the four-wheelers has come up on the Jagannath Ballav ‘math’ premises recently, informed the temple authorities.

Spread over an area of five acres, it has been built up with Rs. 25 lakh provided by the Endowment Commission, it was learnt.

The parking space can house about 150 vehicles at a time and would remain open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Each vehicle would be charged Rs.10 as parking fee, an official informed and added that arrangement of rickshaws and pre-paid auto-rickshaws have been made to carry the visitors from the parking place to the temple.
