OMSA threatens agitation on demands

Association holds general body meeting

Medicos’ role in controlling gastro lauded

KORAPUT: Orissa Medical Services Association (OMSA) has threatened to go for mass resignation if its demands were not fulfilled within the time stipulated. Siba Singh, State general secretary of the association, attended the general body meeting of the Koraput unit of the association on Thursday.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Singh alleged that doctors in the State were paid the lowest in the country and there was an urgent need to increase their pay and other facilities.

He also criticized the Government for having no transparent posting and promotion policy for doctors. While demanding revocation of the suspension of three the doctors during the Kalingnagar issue last year he also wanted the Chief Minister to keep his promised package for doctors that he had declared in April this year. The association, in its resolution, complemented the role of medicos in controlling gastroenteritis cases in Koraput and Rayagada districts.

Medical facilities

The association expressed unhappiness over the cool attitude of the district administration at Koraput in extending cooperation to medicos during the mission. While appreciating the medical facilities extended by the district administration of Rayagada, Dr. Singh said that medicos were denied of basic support from the district administration to carry out the work in Dasmantpur block of Koraput district.

Madhusudan Mishra, State president of the association, and others were present.
