BHUBANESWAR: The six-month-old baby elephant, which was rescued from Keonjhar district after its herd was run over by a train, was brought to Nandnankanan Zoological Park (NZP) here on Thursday. The baby elephant was put in an intense observation with NZP workers feeding the calf with lactogen in every three hours interval. “We are yet to start full drug administration for the calf because it needs to become stable. It witnessed a horrific accident with two female elephants, one of them might have been its mother,” an NZP veterinarian said. He said the NZP had experience of rearing three elephant calves before.
