Government criticised for bad roads

Correspondent

Sirsi: Former MP Margaret Alva has criticised the State Government for the bad condition of highways in Uttara Kannada.

Addressing presspersons here on Wednesday, she said that the Government had been neglecting the district in terms of development. Funds released for roadwork in the district had not been used.

The Government had failed on all fronts, she alleged.

Ms. Alva alleged that the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and district in-charge Minister Shivananda Naik had failed in handling the flood situation in the district.

She said reducing the quantity and improper distribution of ration showed the “inefficiency” of the Government.

Welcoming the “Eco-friendly park” sanctioned to the district by the Centre, Ms. Alva said that it had dropped the proposed thermal power project at Tadadi.

Former MP Devaraj Naik and DCC president Shantharam Hegde were present.
