Tax exemption: panels to verify film titles

PUDUCHERRY: Following the Puducherry Government’s decision to exempt films with Telugu and Tamil titles from Entertainment Tax, the Local Administration Department has constituted two committees to ascertain if the titles are indeed in Tamil and Telugu.

According to an order, one committee has been constituted for Puducherry and Karaikal regions and another for Yanam region. The committee for Puducherry and Karaikal would comprise the Head of the Department in Tamil from Kanchi Maamunivar Centre for Post Graduate Studies, Head of the Department of Tamil of Bharathidasan Government College and the Entertainment Tax Officer of the Puducherry Municipality.

The panel for Yanam would have the Head of the Department of Telugu from Government Arts College, Yanam, and the Entertainment Tax Officer, Yanam Municipality.
