Court reserves orders in appeal by professor
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Thursday reserved for orders an appeal by M. Venkataramannappa of Bangalore University challenging a single judge order upholding the action of the Governor and Chancellor in ordering an inquiry into charges of plagiarism levelled against him for his doctoral thesis.
In his appeal, Dr. Venkataramanappa said he was awarded a doctorate in 2002 for his work on “Small farmers in Karnataka-a sociological study.”
Dr. Venkataramannappa said he had petitioned the High Court against the constitution of the committee and also urged it to restrain the panel from going ahead with the inquiry. The petition came to be rejected. He had filed an appeal against this order.
