ADILABAD: Manda Krishna Madiga, president of the Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS) on Thursday gave a call to the physically challenged persons to get united to fight for their rights. He criticised political parties for neglecting the welfare of the physically challenged persons category and said several years of neglect should not be born any more. Mr. Madiga was chief guest at a convention of physically challenged persons from across the district organised by Vikalangula Hakkula Porata Samiti (VHPS). He said continuing vote bank politics had marred the interests of the physically challenged. The convention was also addressed by State convenerr of VHPS Kolli Nageswara Rao and district convener Md. Razi Hyder, who made certain demands on behalf of the disabled persons. The demands included increase of disabled pension to Rs. 1,000, increase of budget for disabled to Rs. 300 crore, increase in reservations for the category to seven per cent, 100 per cent subsidised house for the disabled and appointment of a disabled person as chairman of the State Disabled Welfare Commissioner among the charter of 12.
